Savannah Marshall vs. Hannah Rankin fight off after trainer Peter Fury tests positive for COVIDDAZN
Trainer Peter Fury's positive coronavirus test result has forced the fight between Savannah Marshall and Hannah Rankin to be cancelled.

The women’s world title fight between Savannah Marshall and Hannah Rankin has been cancelled due to Marshall’s trainer Peter Fury testing positive for COVID-19.

Rankin and Marshall were set to battle for the vacant WBO middleweight world title belt, but Fury has tested positive. Fury is WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury’s uncle.

That result has forced the organizers to abandon the fight and no replacement opponent will be put forward for Rankin.

"I'm absolutely gutted. I was so ready to go," said Rankin.

"I was bang on weight and absolutely flying. I'm sure Savannah is gutted as well, she has not tested positive for it. There's nothing she can do or I can do about it. We just have to re-focus and hopefully get another date.

"I just wish Peter all the best."

The 29-year-old English fighter was set to meet 30-year-old Rankin, with Marshall coming to the fight with an unblemished record of eight wins in eight.

No other fighter on the card has tested positive and Lewis Ritson’s showdown with Miguel Vazquez will go ahead as planned.
