Gabriel Rosado has identified Jaron Ennis as the man who Terence Crawford must face next if he remains at 147lbs.
The Nebraska fighter confirmed his status as the world’s best welterweight last summer when he dominated long-time rival, Errol Spence, before stopping the unbeaten Texan in the ninth round.
Crawford has been inactive since the win, but a rematch clause exists for a second meeting with Spence with it still being unclear whether that bout takes place.
Ennis, one of boxing’s quickest rising fighters, is eager to prove himself and Rosado, a former world title challenger, has called on Crawford to give Ennis an opportunity.
“In all honesty, Boots earned his spot,” said Rosado when speaking to FightHype.
“He beat the guys he was supposed to beat, and they're in the same weight class.”
“This is a young man’s sport. You the king, you on top, you pound-for-pound but now you got the young killer coming up. To stay in the game, you gotta fight those dudes.”
