Gabriel Rosado reveals clash against boxing legend as the toughest fight of his careerDAZN

After announcing his retirement following a loss to Bektemir Melikuziev this past Saturday, Gabriel Rosado has been reflecting on his 17-year career as a professional boxer.

Throughout his tenure Rosado has come up against some stellar names including Jermell Charlo and Daniel Jacobs, but he has often been on the wrong end of the result when it comes to fights which could catapult the 37-year-old to superstardom.

When speaking to The DAZN Boxing following his decision to retire, Rosado revealed what was the toughest fight of his career and it came against one of the sport's legendary names.

"I think my toughest fight was Golovkin because there was so much I was dealing with in that fight," Rosado said.

"I had three cuts over one eye, I was trying to win, I was trying to fight back, but those cuts were bad.

"I was stubborn, I wasn’t going to go down.

"That was hard for me because I was on the streak, a 9-win streak with seven knockouts and to be in the ring with someone whose skills were so superior, and his jab was so good."

Rosado's clash with Golovkin back in January 2019 saw him last seven rounds before his corner threw in the towel which brought the fight to an early end.
