Gabriel Rosado reveals why it's difficult to make the big fights happenDAZN

The year 2022 has been a frustrating one for boxing fans with many big fights failing to come to fruition including the Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Olexandr Usyk heavyweight mix-up, Terence Crawford vs. Errol Spence Jr and Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia.

All of these fights were close to happening, but in the end, negotiations for these contests fell apart and for former world title challenger Gabriel Rosado there is one reason behind it all, the excess of promotional outfits.

"I feel like this time is different than it was before with (Roberto) Duran, (Tommy) Hearns, and Sugar Ray (Leonard) when they were fighting each other," Rosado told DAZN.

"We have to remember that it was a different era where the only promoters were Don King and Bob Arum and they could work together and they made the fights happen.

"It was always the same TV stations and it made sense, but now you have a lot of promoters. You have DAZN, ESPN, PBC and you have so many promoters that it's harder now because they compete with each other and it's harder to make fights happen."
