Gennadiy Golovkin vs. Ryota Murata: List of odds, favourites, markets, prediction and betting trendsDAZN
All the betting details for Saturday night's unification title fight in Japan.

This could be Gennadiy Golovkin's last title fight if things go wrong, but a victory over Ryota Murata would set up a huge trilogy rematch with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.

Golovkin has been out of action for 15 months and he has had to wait for his Japanese opponent after the coronavirus pandemic forced a delay into 2022.

A win for GGG would earn him Murata's WBA belt at 160lbs, with the Kazakhstani fighter putting his own IBF strap on the line.

For Murata, unifiying the division would allow him to pursue fights to become undisputed at middleweight.

If Golovkin is successful - and he remains the favourite despite his age - then he is expected to fight Canelo at super middleweight in order to finally settle the controversy from their first two fights.

Saturday night has the potential to be another memorable event live on DAZN and there are plenty of bets to be made so let's take a look.

  • Gennadiy Golovkin:  2/11
  • Ryota Murata:  4/1
  • Draw: 2051

Betfred (as of Apr. 7) has Golovkin installed as the favourite to win outright at 2/11. That means you would need to bet £110 to win £20 on the result, as well as receiving the £110 stake back. Murata meanwhile is 4/1 to win outright which means that you would need to bet £10 to win £40 on the result in addition to receiving your £10 stake back.

GGG boasts an impressive 41-1-1 record with 36 of those wins coming by way of knockouts, while Murata is 16-2 with 13 knockouts.

Golovkin vs. Murata  prediction

There is no doubting that Golovkin is the overwhelming favourite, with confidence reflected in the 2/11 odds on offer.

While he will be 40 in the ring - something that he said may start to become a problem as he enters the last years of his career - his experience and professionalism means he is unlikely to have suffered too much of a drop-off in quality.

Murata meanwhile has two defeats over 18, with GGG's only loss coming in a disputed defeat against Canelo.

Normally, there would be questions over Golovkin's age, coupled with his lack of activity. That has cost several fighters over the pandemic years as champions as experienced as Vasily Lomachenko have suffered upsets.

However Murata has also been out of action since 2019, a victim perhaps of the more stringent restrictions put in place in Japan due to the coronavirus.

Best value might be reflected not in a GGG win, but the manner in which it comes. He is expected to win the fight, but perhaps the advancing years and dulled edges might cost him a knockout.
