Gervonta Davis can’t afford to look past Hector Garcia as he prepares to get the biggest year of his professional career underway.

The Baltimore native faces Garcia on Saturday night and if he’s victorious, he’s set to walk into one of the biggest fights in boxing when he takes on long-term rival, Ryan Garcia, later this year.

Any slip ups from Davis will put a severe dent in the chances of him facing his fellow American and he insists he’s taking this weekend’s threat seriously.

The Dominican heads into this fight in excellent form after scoring a series of impressive wins over Chris Colbert and Roger Gutierrez last year, and that run of form has grabbed ‘Tank’s’ attention.

“I ain't gonna lie. He looks a little hungry,” said Davis when appearing on Showtime’s All Access. “A lot of people overlook him, but I ain't trying to overlook him.

“He looks like he's ready. And it could be a life-changer for him. You know what I mean? He wants to take my spot. So, I'm definitely not looking past him. I'm in a real fight. January 7 is going to be a crazy night.”
