Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis is aiming for a fight with Devin Haney in the future, according to Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe.
The WBA lightweight champion fights on Saturday against Frank Martin, live on Amazon PPV in the UK and in the US .
Devin Haney is recovering from a disputed defeat to Ryan Garcia, but has retained the WBC super lightweight belt after his opponent failed to make weight.
Davis and Haney have long been rivals and there have been antagonistic exchanges between the two sparring partners over the years, and many anticipate that one day there will be a huge bout between the two.
Unbeaten fighter Davis has operated across divisions so a move up to 140lbs for another fight should not be a problem, and speaking to Boxing Scene , Ellerbe believes the fight will take place sooner or later.
“Devin is one of the guys on Tank's list, too, and it will happen when the time comes. I can’t put a timetable on it,” said Ellerbe. “I’m convinced that all these guys will get an opportunity at some point. None of these guys can f*** with Tank Davis, and I will stand on that.”
