Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez: If Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez wants to fight, let's do itDAZN
The pair may meet at 175lbs.

Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez is ready to fight Canelo ‘Saul’ Alvarez in the light heavyweight division.

Ramirez was speaking to the DAZN Boxing Show ahead of his clash with Sullivan Barrera, a fight which saw the former super middleweight powerfully dispatch his veteran rival.

The 30-year-old said after the bout that he wanted Dmitry Bivol, as well as claiming the souls of every champion at 175lbs.

But speaking to Ak and Barak, he suggested he was ready to fight his fellow Mexican, with Canelo not yet assured of a tilt at Caleb Plant and his IBF belt at 168lbs.

Asked about potentially meeting Canelo, he said: “I mean it’s good, it’s exciting for another Mexican to try to conquer the 175 pounds. But that’s my division - I wanna take over this division.

“And if he wants to do it, let's do it. Because always two great fighters in the ring is guaranteed an explosive fight and people want to see the fight and why not? Maybe they can make it in the near future.

“To become pound-for-pound I need to beat Bivol, [Artur] Beterbiev, Joe Smith Jr and get all the belts to become pound-for pound.”
