Heather Hardy reveals whether her fight against Calista Silgado will be her lastDAZN

Former WBO women's featherweight champion Heather Hardy will be hoping to prove she can still challenge for a world title when she returns to the ring on Thursday night.

The 40-year-old will be facing Colombia's Calista Silgado at Sony Hall in New York, and will be wanting to get back to winning ways following two back-to-back losses.

When asked by The DAZN Boxing Show whether a recent social media post which included #lastchapter meant this fight with Silgado will be the last of her 10-year professional career, Hardy was quick to dimiss any hints of imminent retirement and is instead looking to prove that she can still mix it up with some of boxing's biggest names.

"I want to make a last run," Hardy said.

"I think it’s silly to look ahead of this fight considering that I’m coming off two losses, I’ve turned 40 since getting in the ring the last time over a year ago and basically this fight is going to let myself and everyone else know if a 40-year-old Heather Hardy can make a run for a world title.

"I’d like to, but realistically we’ve got to really see how I do Thursday night."

With this being a fight which could have major implications for Hardy's career and legacy, the American explained how this particular training camp has been different compared to ones in the past.

"It’s more mental, I think," Hardy began.

"I had a lot of thinking to do about turning 40. Am I ready to put everything I’ve got into trying to win again, I don’t want to lose anymore and I hated the thought of my career going out like that.

"On top of all that, I won a world title at the Garden on HBO and I made $20,000, so I’m now watching these girls make money and I’m like ‘How do I hang them up unless I’m really sure that I can’t make that money I’ve worked so hard in my career to earn.’"
