'I have to make a statement' - Chris Eubank Jr's promise for most important fight of careerDAZN
Chris Eubank Jr is under no illusions to the importance of Saturday night's Riyadh Season fight

"This is the most important fight of my career." That is the message from Chris Eubank Jr as he concludes his final preparations for his contest with Kamil Szeremeta on Saturday night, live on DAZN.

Eubank Jr fights fourth on the Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol main card as part of the Riyadh Season in Saudi Arabia, as he builds towards his dream of headlining a major fight card as a world champion.

Despite his fighting skills, star quality and family pedigree, to this date he has failed to wrap a championship title around his waist.

Eubank Jr himself has already talked about a title fight with Canelo Alvarez in 2025, while Billy Joe Saunders and Janibek Alimkhanuly could also be on the cards for the Brighton boxer.

However at the age of 35 and after 13 months out of the ring, he knows only too well that none of that will be possible in the future if he fails to put on a show against Szeremeta at the weekend.

That realisation seems to have focused his mind and ensured his feet are on the ground when he steps in the Riyadh ring, as he looks to build on his TKO victory over Liam Smith in September 2023.

Only an impressive, stylish victory in his 37th bout will be enough.

"This is the most important fight of my career," Eubank Jr told DAZN during Tuesday's Grand Arrivals ceremony.

"Because a flat performance or, God forbid, a defeat means I don't get all the mega fights I've been hunting for and talking about for so long.

"So I have to go out there and make a statement, I have to perform, I have to take this guy out. That is the mission at hand and so Szeremeta has to go"

Eubank Jr also insists his 13 months away from the ring, following his double header against Smith, will benefit him as a fighter. Rather than feeling rusty, he feels it has made him appreciate the sport more and made him hungrier for that world title.

"[In these 13 months] I've been living life and becoming a better human being.

"But I missed my home, my real life of being a boxer. Now we are back and back in the biggest way. This is the new wave and I'm excited to be here."
