I know how to beat Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, claims British fighter Zach ParkerEd Mullholland/Matchroom

Zach Parker believes he knows how to defeat Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

The British super middleweight is set to fight John Ryder this Saturday for the vacant WBO interim championship at the O2 Arena.

The winner of the clash would have a good shout for fighting Canelo next, assuming the governing body ordered a mandatory defence, and if the Mexican decided to defend his belt against a lower-profile fighter.

Canelo is believed to be eyeing a May 2023 return after surgery and many believe his priority is a rematch with Dmitry Bivol after losing to the WBA light heavyweight champion six months ago.

Bivol, however, is wanting to pursue a clash with Artur Beterbiev for the chance to become undisputed at 175lbs, and that recent win for Bivol against Canelo leads Parker to think he is vulnerable.

"You just need the right style against him," Parker told the BBC.

"You need to be big enough and have power to keep him off you."

Parker continued: "He's on a downward spiral at the minute. I think he's there to be beat.

"He lost to Bivol and he didn't look amazing against an old [Gennadiy] Golovkin.

"I'm buzzing to get a world title and it adds that extra bit with Canelo. That's the sort of fights you want to be in boxing for.

"He's not just one of the best boxers out there, but you get a lot of money from that fight which will provide for my family."
