Ak and Barak discussed the possibility of Devin Haney facing JoJo Diaz in December, on the DAZN Boxing Show.
Haney is set to fight for the first time since his May 2021 bout with Jorge Linares on December 3, though there is not yet any certainty over his opponent.
However, with Diaz now without an opponent after Ryan Garcia dropped out of their WBC eliminator, the logical choice would be for the former super featherweight to take an early title shot at 135lbs.
Barak Bess believes the fight is the obvious next step for the 28-year-old American.
“First of all, the contract was signed already with JoJo and Devin Haney, because it was a Twitter promise. What's more legit than a Twitter promise?” he joked.
“Eddie Hearn has been on the interviews, he said: 'I don't think JoJo doesn't want to fight Devin Haney, I don't think he's scared to fight Devin Haney,' and I agree that's not the case.
“There is no other fight right now. That is the fight that makes sense. That is actually the fight he wanted until Ryan popped back in the scene. Right? That's the fight JoJo always wanted, was with Devin Haney. This is a great fight for both of them. They both have recently one really good win and this right here was solidified.
“I think this is perfect for the lightweight division.”
Akin ‘Ak’ Reyes was similarly enthusiastic about the prospect.
“We love JoJo Diaz - he's a hell of a fighter, man,” he claimed.
“It's gonna be a tough fight for JoJo. But Devin better be prepared as well because JoJo has some momentum. He's feeling very confident. He's expressing it on social media verbally and all that so I'm excited about that fight. “
