Eddie Hearn believes that Ryan Garcia vs. Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis is bigger than a clash between Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr.
Crawford has reportedly been offered big money in order to take on David Avenesyan in his next fight, after months of speculation that he would sign up for an undisputed welterweight clash with the division’s other champion, Spence.
However it seems that the fight between the two belt holders is at the very least delayed, with Spence now likely considering his next option.
Hearn believes that Tank vs. Garcia is the higher profile fight, after several weeks where comments from both camps have hinted at an agreement for the pair to meet at 140lbs.
Garcia and Tank both suggested they could meet in the ring at the start of last year after Garcia became interim WBC champion after defeating Luke Campbell. Instead, Davis fought across a couple of weight classes and Garcia took time away from the sport before making his return at super lightweight.
Speaking to the DAZN Boxing Show, Hearn said that the fight is, “Maybe, honestly a bigger fight, but they don’t need Spence-Crawford money.
“I’m telling you, Ryan Garcia against Tank Davis is a monster fight. If I’m putting up the money, for either of those fights, I’m putting the money up for Tank against Ryan Garcia. That’s where I’m putting my neck on the line.
“Two different fan bases, very powerful on social media. Another kid who’s very exciting, controversial, that's the bigger fight, the bigger draw.”
