Ryan Garcia was set to challenge for his first world title tonight against WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney, but despite missing weight on Friday ruling him ineligible to claim the belt, he will still get the chance to face Haney for the first time in the professional ranks.
It has been a year since Garcia was stopped by the hard-hitting Gervonta Davis and following that loss, Garcia made the decision to move up permanently from lightweight to super lightweight.
He impressed in his last outing back in December with an eighth round stoppage against Oscar Duarte, but Haney is considered a top pound-for-pound talent by those within the sport, and Garcia will have to produce a career best performance if he is to beat his old amateur rival.
