The DAZN Boxing Show discussed the DAZN P4P men’s rankings after the weekend’s actions.
Oleksandr Usyk sprang a surprise to defeat Anthony Joshua and become the IBF, WBA and WBO champion, which saw him installed as the list’s new number two, just behind the current number one, super middleweight unified champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
Despite Usyk’s success, Akin ‘Ak’ Reyes believes that should Canelo defeat Caleb Plant this November to become the undisputed champion at 168lbs, nobody else should be in the conversation for the number one spot.
“Guess what? Canelo has an undisputed and super middleweight showdown coming on November 6,” he started.
“Guess what if he wins, do you think Usyk is coming close to him. No, nobody in the boxing world is coming close now. [Terence] Crawford also has a fight against Shawn Porter. And if he wins big in that fight, does he move up? I think he has more of a possibility to move up into number one spot before Usyk. Mot to say that Usyk is not in a conversation - he's there number three number four number two, maybe number one if the fight is made with Usyk and the winner of Wilder and Fury.
“He gets a victory over either guy then of course, he moves up.”
Barak noted Crawford’s place, in at four but then pointed out Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis was stepping up in the lighter weights., saying: “Terence Crawford at number four. He beat more champions than [Naoya] Inoue first of all.
“And Terence Crawford obviously is the most dominant guy in boxing right now.
“Tank Davis as well, in three divisions he's killing everybody. He's knocking everybody out. He's killing, you complained when he was a boxer so he said you know what I'm a mix it up and stop everybody.”
