'It's my moment' - Walid Ouizza ready for toughest test against Dalton Smith

It may not be a huge distance between the coasts of England and France, but for Walid Ouizza his next fight is the biggest of his career.

On Saturday night live on DAZN, the Frenchman steps into the ring to face the undefeated Dalton Smith for the vacant European super lightweight title.

For Ouizza, there is no doubt this will be the toughest fight of his nine years in the professional ranks. Smith is being touted for big things in 2025, including a world title shot before the year's end if successful in Nottingham.

Things have been made slightly easier for Ouizza with the contest taking place in the East Midlands, and not Smith's native Sheffield, therefore the atmosphere should be slightly less hostile in theory.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Ouizza gave very little away when it came to his pre-fight demeanour, but he is looking to seize the moment and go back to France with his biggest success to date.

"It’s my moment, this is what I’ve come here for," Ouizza said.

"I’m here, I’m here on merit, it’s a big honour to be featured in a fight like this against a great fighter like Dalton.

"I’m here to create that visibility and hopefully head back to France with a win."

Smith vs. Ouizza tops an exciting card in Nottingham which also includes IBF and WBO women's super bantamweight champion Ellie Scotney who defends her two world titles against Mea Motu
