Jack Catterall has set his sights on finally becoming world champion after he claimed victory over Regis Prograis by unanimous decision in Manchester on Saturday.
The Chorley fighter scored a win in a frequently chaotic, often entertaining bout at Co-op Live against the former WBC light-welterweight title holder to extend his record to 30-1.
Having previously missed out on the undisputed division title against Josh Taylor in a controversial split decision loss in 2022, Catterall has since gone from strength to strength.
With his rematch glory over the Scotsman and now victory versus Prograis in his back pocket however, the 31-year-old is ready to take aim at a global crown once again.
"I'm pleased," Catteall said. "It was a big event for me, a big occasion against a tremendous fighter. Regis came tonight, he gave me a hell of a fight so I can't complain about that.
"I felt Regis' power. Obviously he is a strong fighter. But I came back into it with the two knockdown. There's plenty of big fights in my division. I want a world title next."
Catterall survived a fifth-round knockdown in a frequently absorbing contest, before dropping Prograis twice in the ninth round as both men traded blows.
He claimed the bout with two scores of 116-109 and one of 117-110 from the judges, to make it four straight wins since May 2023 for the Lancastrian.
Elsewhere on the card, Campbell Hatton - son of former world champion Ricky Hatton - suffered a second successive defeat to James Flint, also by unanimous decision.
