Jaimie Munguia and D'Mitrius Ballard are set to go head-to-head next Saturday.

It's been four and a half years since Jaime Munguia last fought in his native Tijuana and now he has the opportunity to impress his adoring fans on February 19th.

Munguia will face American D'mitrius Ballard in a fight where the Mexican will be putting his WBO Intercontinental crown on the line and his position in the rankings.

This clash is one of vital importance for Munguia and Ballard who will be looking to preserve their unbeaten records.

"The preparation went very well, as we have had plenty of time to work. I feel better than ever, as I'm learning more and more things, learning fight after fight," Munguia said in an interview with DAZN.

"Thanks to Erik and all the people who help me to progress and keep moving forward, we have achieved what we have now. But I think we still have a long way to go, learning a lot and working even harder. I have the hunger and the desire to continue."

After becoming a champion at super welterweight in 2018, Munguia's move up to middleweight has been a successful one with four wins out of four, but he realises that the likes of Ballard could very easily stop him from securing a fight with the biggest names in the division like Gennadiy Golovkin.

"I feel Ballard is going to come in his best shape, he's a good fighter, a great fighter and maybe a lot of people don't know him, but he's an undefeated fighter and that's for a reason. We'll have to be very careful."
