Jake Paul has welcomed the addition of Conor McGregor to help with the organisation of May’s rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.
The fight is scheduled for May 20, but the venue has still not been decided with Eddie Hearn expressing doubts over Dublin’s Croke Park due to the cost of staging the event there.
McGregor, one of Ireland’s biggest sporting figures due to his MMA exploits in the UFC, took to social media to lend his support to the occasion.
Taylor enjoyed victory over Serrano last April and with McGregor’s backing, she could repeat the win in front of her adoring public.
Paul, the promoter of Serrano, is happy to have McGregor onboard for the show.
“I think it's awesome that he would want to do that, and it only makes the fight bigger if he gets involved on Katie Taylor's side, rooting for her,” said Paul when speaking to Sportsmail.
“I think it's great but behind the scenes I don't know if there's been any progress with him actually doing that.
“I think it might have just been a drunken tweet of his that he likes to do, but hopefully he was being serious.”
