'We chase down the champions!' - Eddie Hearn outlines 2025 plans for Jaron 'Boots' Ennis

'We chase down the champions!' - Eddie Hearn outlines 2025 plans for Jaron 'Boots' EnnisMatchroom Boxing
The Matchroom boss is backing his man to take aim at the rest of his division when the new year rolls around.

Jaron Ennis will stay at welterweight in 2025, with Eddie Hearn revealing ambitions to conquer the division, before his bout with Karen Chukhadzhian live on DAZN this weekend.

Boots will mount the second defence of his IBF title atop a stacked fight card at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, alongside fellow American star Jesse Rodriguez.

Ennis stretched his unbeaten professional record with a victory over David Avanesyan earlier this year, and will look to improve on his 32-0 (1) figures once more on Saturday.

Speculation over whether he may step up a division has been mooted, but ahead of the fight, Matchroom boss Hearn revealed a desire to clean up at welterweight first.

"When this mandatory [defence] was called, we had to make a decision," he told The Stomping Ground. "He said [he wanted to] win the championships at 147, so we stayed here.

"We take care of the mandatory and then we chase down the champions in 2025. [Mario] Barrios, [Eimantas] Stanionis, Brian Norman [Jr.], any of those fights.

"If we have to move to [super-welterweight] in the meantime, to have a little monster fight, no problem also. But the priority for him is to pick up the other belts at 147."

Ennis is one of the four title holders in the division, with Barrios holding the WBC crown, Stanionis in possession of the WBA title and Norman Jr. packing the WBO belt.

Victory over Chukhadzhian will likely pave the way for the American to set up a unification bout with one of them next year, though they may also wish to face another contender.
