The super welterweight undisputed clash is drawing closer.

Former lightweight champion Ray Mancini believes that Brian Castano can drag Jermell Charlo into a war.

Charlo holds three belts at super welterweight, with Castano in possession of the fourth, and the pair meet on Saturday night at the AT&T Center in San Antonio to decide the undisputed champion of the division.

There has never been a fighter to hold every belt at the weight before and Charlo is the heavy favourite as he is ranked number one at the weight by most respected organisations.

31-year-old Argentine Castano announced himself as a credible challenger to Charlo after beating Brazilian fighter Patrick Teixeira five months ago to claim the WBO belt. Charlo’s WBA, WBC and IBF belts are now within touching distance.

Mancini told BoxingScene.com that while he believes Charlo is indeed the favourite to come away with the undisputed designation, Castano has the talent to turn it into a tough fight.

“He’s a good puncher with deceptive hand speed and a pretty tight defense,” Mancini explained.

“I think Charlo wins because of his experience in big fights, but it’ll be a war.”
