The light heavyweight wants a unification fight next.

Joe Smith wants to face Artur Beterbiev in order to add to his WBO light heavyweight championship belt.

Smith took the belt when he defeated Maxim Vlasov on April 10, and now wants to move on to the Russian Beterbiev, who holds the WBC and IBF belts, as well as an unbeaten record.

Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans, Smith made it clear he wanted to aim for more success.

“I want the big fights, I want to unify belts and I want to make the money,” he said.

“I feel that’s where the money is and that’s where the two belts are that I want, the next two, so that’s the fight I want.

“Show up 100% and just stay busy and I believe I can pull it off. I think I have what it takes to beat Beterbiev.

“I have the power to match his and I believe I’m a little faster and my boxing abilities I believe are better.

“I’m looking to go upwards and forwards not back the other way, but who knows anything is possible?

“It could possibly make for a good fight too [against Lyndon Arthur - his WBO mandatory]. That’s something else that’s being talked about.

“It’s not really something I’ve got my eyes set on, I’m set on the titles, but he’s another top contender, he’s the number one ranked in the WBO next in line I believe and we’ve got to see what happens."

Earlier in the week, Dmitry Bivol said he wants to put his WBA title on the line against Smith or Beterbiev.
