John Fury provides latest update on potential Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk fight

John Fury provides latest update on potential Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk fightMatchroom

The undisputed heavyweight title showdown between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is still not confirmed despite both camps talking for lengthy periods.

John Fury, the father of Tyson, has provided an update on negotiations and has urged the Ukrainian to accept his position in the promotion as he sees his son as the bigger draw.

Fury vs. Usyk is correctly identified as one of the biggest fights in boxing and the showdown would provide undoubted clarity on who the world’s premier heavyweight is.

Usyk has been a revelation in his new division with two wins over Anthony Joshua, but only victory over Fury will be enough to make him number one.

“Treat Tyson as the great champion he is. Stop trying to be the A-side. Usyk is not Tyson’s equal,” said Fury Sr when speaking with ID Boxing.

“Fall in line and you’ll get the fight done.

“Do not respect Tyson and you won’t get the fight, simple as that. Tyson’s the A-side and Usyk is not worthy of 50-50, he couldn’t sell the O2 Arena out. So, fall in line and you might get the fight.”
