John Ryder has named one of boxing's biggest names as the opponent he would like to face in a rematch if the opportunity arised.
The British fighter is preparing for his first outing of 2024 on Saturday night when he takes on the hard-htting Jaime Munguia in Arizona live on DAZN.
This will be Ryder's first fight since he travelled to Mexico last year to face the undisputed super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez in a contest which he would go onto lose.
While Ryder was knocked down in round five by the Mexican, he managed to last the full 12 rounds, but his loss was confirmed with a unanimous decision verdict from the ringside judges.
Reflecting on the loss during an appearance on DAZN's Off the Cuff, Ryder revealed that Alvarez is someone he would like to face in a rematch.
"I am, yeah," Ryder responded when asked whether he was proud of his performance in Mexico.
Ryder was then quick to give his answer about whether he would want to face Alvarez for a second time before explaining why a clash with the pound-for-pound star earlier in his career would have helped develop his ability as fighter.
"I’d love to," Ryder said on the possibility of facing Alvarez again.
"I often say that I wished I had that fight 10 years ago because I feel like that would have made a me a better all-round fighter."
