'This will go the distance!' - Johnny Fisher not expecting knockouts despite prolific success

'This will go the distance!' - Johnny Fisher not expecting knockouts despite prolific successMark Robinson / Matchroom Boxing
The Romford Bull has made short work of many opponents across his career so far, but stresses he does not think it will be one-way traffic whenever he fights.

Johnny Fisher believes he does not enter into the ring expected to deliver a knockout despite his success, ahead of his bout with Dave Allen this December, live on DAZN.

The British heavyweight faces his veteran rival in Saudi Arabia on the undercard of Riyadh Season's Reignited, headlined by Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury's rematch.

It comes on the back of a flurry of first-round victories for the 25-year-old, who has been a ruthless contender since he turned professional, with all but one victory by knockout.

But despite such performances across his career, the Romford Bull is keen to say that he does not step onto the canvas expecting any bout to be over so quick.

"Every time I go in there, I condition my mind to think that this will go the distance," Fisher said. "I don't intentionally look to have a knockout.

"On the last one [against Alen Babic], I landed a jab, a one-two and I saw his legs go a little bit. I thought I'd throw a little flurry and all eight punches landed on his chin.

"[That's] unfortunate for him. [But I am] excited to be in the mix with the top guys, y’know. I know I’ve got the metals to take to be a professional boxer."

Fisher has sparred with Allen before, as well as Fury, Daniel Dubois and Fabio Wardley among other major names in the British heavyweight decision.

A win in Saudi Arabia would further push him into the coversation of what appears to be a blossoming golden age for contenders from the United Kingdom.
