Jojo Diaz calls for Devin Haney or Ryan Garcia after win over Javier FortunaGolden Boy Promotions
The new lightweight is looking to move up the rankings already.

Jojo Diaz secured his first win at 135lbs as he defeated Javier Fortuna on Friday night, and looked to either Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney as his next opponent.

The former featherweight and junior lightweight fighter failed to make the 130lbs requirement in his last outing against Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov, and had decided to step in to fight Fortuna in order to get back into action, and perhaps find a more comfortable weight class to operate in.

Speaking after the fight, Diaz identified two potential opponents: Garcia (who had been designated the WBC interim champion) and Haney (the division’s outright champion).

"I can fight all the top guys at 135 pounds," said Diaz.

"I want Ryan Garcia or Devin Haney. Let's make this s— happen.

"I've been sparring 160 pounders. I've always worked with bigger guys my whole life."

Golden Boy’s Oscar De La Hoya praised his fighter for the result and performance.

"JoJo once again showed a lot of guts, a lot of courage and a big heart," De La Hoya claimed.

"His first fight at 135 was not too shabby. I think he did a great job against a guy who's been avoided for years."
