Joseph Parker vs. Junior Fa weigh-in: Parker at leanest since Anthony Joshua fight for all-New Zealand heavyweight clashDAZN
The former world champion has dropped some weight for his Auckland battle with undefeated Fa.

Former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker weighed in at 240lbs for his Saturday fight against fellow New Zealand heavyweight Junior Fa, who came in much heavier at 265lbs.

The two have battled four times at amateur level, taking two wins apiece, and after delays prevented them from getting it on in late 2020 the bout will go down in Auckland in what will be a Saturday morning contest for fans in the UK and US.

Parker weighed 236lbs for his big fight against Anthony Joshua in 2018, which saw him lose the WBO title. He then lost to another Brit in Dillian Whyte before bouncing back with three wins via stoppage. Along the way, he has usually weighed in heavier than 240lbs but is back down to a leaner reading for one of the biggest fights in New Zealand history.

With Parker still ranked highly by the WBO, at number three, there's a chance the winner of this bout could be next in line for the winner of Joe Joyce vs. Oleksandr Usyk, which is expected to take place some time this Spring.

"I'm open to fighting anyone," Parker told Sky Sports News. "But with the talks from my promoter, Eddie Hearn and Matchroom and with [manager] David Higgins, they've got a clear pathway for me this year.

"Take care of Junior, then fighting Chisora, then fighting the winner of Usyk and Joyce.

"There is a path and it's quite exciting that there's a path, because a lot of fighters want to know what they're going to do after their next fight.

"But again, the focus is on Junior because if I don't get past him, there's no point even looking at those fights."

Parker vs. Fa airs live on DAZN globally except for Australia, New Zealand and Samoa.
