After confirming his move to 147lbs, Josh Taylor will be a keen spectator when Terence Crawford and Errol Spence go at it on July 29.
The welterweight battle will crown an undisputed champion and although Taylor is a fan of both men, he’s described the man from Nebraska as the best fighter in the world at this moment.
Taylor is aiming to rebuild his career after suffering his first ever professional defeat to Teofimo Lopez earlier this month.
The winner of this summer’s clash is likely to be on Taylor’s radar if he can reinvent himself at his new weight class, and he’ll be aiming for a man he hugely admires if Crawford can get the job done.
“The two of them are the top dogs in the welterweight division and me, as a potential future opponent, I’ll be watching both as a boxing fan but with interest as a possible opponent in the future,” said Taylor to Rob’s World of Boxing .
“I really like ‘Bud’ Crawford. Spence is very good and methodical in the way he goes about his work and breaks people down but for me, Crawford is the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet at the minute.
“For me, he can do it all. I think he’s just got a little bit more to his game, but it will be a really interesting fight.”
