Josh Warrington hopes to see more domestic British fighters feature on big shows at home next year amid the proliferation of major fight cards into the Middle East.
The Leeds Warrior is set to carry on in 2025 even after he left his gloves in the ring following a loss to Anthony Cacace at Riyadh Season Card - Wembley Edition.
Fighting at Wembley Stadium on the biggest home show of the year was a proud moment for the 34-year-old who was supported by his boisterous fans once again.
But ahead of a calendar that appears stacked with supercards mostly held abroad, Warrington has professed his desire to see more major events return to domestic shores.
"I believe that a lot of the fighters at the top level are getting the fights they've been wanting," he told DAZN . "They're getting paid well and the shows have been fantastic.
"You look at the production and the build-ups and the videos and the promos. Boxers are being treated like royalty and like superstars.
"But over the last ten years, we've been spoiled in the UK with shows more or less every month in arenas or stadiums, high-prestige title fights and domestic undercards.
"They seem to have disappeared. I feel that the British boxing fan is not getting treated to as many live fights. It's all well and good just fighting in Saudi Arabia.
"But outside of Wembley, I can't think of too many big shows that have been held over here recently. You can't really say that there's so many to look forward to."
Further expanding on the health of the homegrown scene, Warrington mulled whether taking shows abroad could hamper the exposure for the next generation of stars.
"Just a few more shows over here, with more domestic fighters getting a chance," he added. "Some of the prospects are being put on in Saudi Arabia, but not enough.
"When the top-level fighters we have now have their final days in the sun and bow out, the next crop needs to replace them. I don't feel there's many ready to fill that void.
"When I came through and signed with Matchroom for the first time, there was Kell Brook, Anthony Joshua, Callum Smith and fighters like that.
"Now, there’s not many where you look and say he’s going to do alright. Ben Whittaker, up untilLiam Cameron, was someone who could have been the next big superstar."
