Unbeaten Warrington recently vacated his IBF featherweight crown over frustrations with his attempts to set up bouts with fellow champions in the division. Now, he will start over — provided he can first get past respected young contender Lara over 12 rounds.
The Leeds-born favourite (30-0, 7 KOs) stepped onto the scales for a reading of 125 1/2lbs, half a pound heavier than the Mexican (21-2, 14 KOs) who hit bang on 125.
There was a lot of mutual respect between the two as they went face-to-face after the weigh-in, exchanging a fist bump before they went back to their rooms.
In chief support, Zelfa Barrett (23-1, 14 KOs) steps up against tenured Spaniard Kiko Martinez (41-9-2, 29 KOs) over 12 rounds at super-featherweight. At 128 3/4 lbs, the Brit weighed half a pound more than the 128 1/4lbs Martinez.
Meanwhile, English featherweight champion Reece Mould (13-0, 6 KOs) hit the scales at 125 3/4lbs for his 12-rounder for the vacant British feather strap against Leigh Wood (23-2, 13 KOs), who weighed 125 1/4lbs, in what could steal the show on fight night.
Also set for Saturday in Wembley are Ishmael Ellis (11-3, 0 KOs) at 138.9lbs vs Dalton Smith (6-0, 5 KOs) at 142.8lbs in a 10-round super-lightweight contest, while featherweights Hopey Price (3-0, 1 KO) and Daniel Mendoza (11-11, 4 KOs) measured at 122.9lbs and 122.8lbs respectively for their six-round main show opener.
In the Facebook Live prelim bout is another featherweight six-rounder as Jonny Phillips (5-5, 2 KOs) meets Ibrahim Nadim (2-0, 0KOs) with the former weighing in at 123 3/4lbs and the latter at 123 1/4lbs.
