Juan Manuel Marquez enjoyed a stellar career that saw him capture world titles in numerous weight divisions as well as competing with some of the sport’s biggest names.
The Mexican fighter, one of the most entertaining of his era, often delivered when it mattered most, but who was the most skilful fighter he ever faced?
Despite sharing the ring with Manny Pacquiao four times and also going up against Floyd Mayweather, Marquez credits Juan Diaz with having the most skills.
Marquez faced the Amercian in 2009 and stopped him in a classic battle before beating him on points the following year. Marquez has paid tribute to Diaz’s qualities.
“Juan Diaz. Juan has a lot of speed. He was aggressive and elusive,” said Marquez when speaking to The Ring in 2016.
“On the other hand, Joel (Casamayor) was great with the distance, and he was a brilliant fighter.”
