Chavez is a boxing legend.

Julio Cesar Chavez is rightly remembered as one of boxing’s greatest ever fighters, but who does he consider the best puncher he ever faced?

Chavez’s lengthy career, a highly illustrious one, was littered with many memorable fights including legendary battles against the likes of Oscar De La Hoya and Medrick Taylor.

A world champion in multiple weight classes, Chavez delivered in both Mexico and America as he became perhaps the best fighter of his era.

In 1987, Chavez took part in a terrific encounter against Edwin Rosario, and he stopped the Puerto Rican in round 11.

Chavez has fond memories of the bout and he’s credited Rosario as being the biggest puncher he ever stepped foot in a ring with.

“Anywhere he hit me it hurt,” said Chavez when speaking to The Ring regarding Rosario.

“Frankie Randall was also a hard puncher. [Against Rosario] it was my youth, it was the fact I was in my prime, it all helped me get through that fight.”
