The promoter sees a way forward for the all-British affair

The catchweight for a fight between Chris Eubank Jr. and Kell Brook appears to have resolved.

Eubank Jr. fights at middleweight - 160lbs - which is 11lbs lighter than the 149lb limit set for Brook’s last fight against Amir Khan.

The 35-year-old had fought at welterweight but was not comfortable chasing that weight for the long-awaited all-British tie.

Kalle Sauerland is a representative of Eubank, and he reported that the pair of fighters had decided on a weight that they could both make for the fight to go ahead.

Speaking to IFL TV, Sauerland said he was one-step removed from discussions but believed the matter was resolved.

“The weight has, we have – as I understand it, there are middlemen that are acting here as well,”  he said. “I understand that the weight issue was finalised last week.

“Of course, the weight’s important. It has to be fair to both. I think there’s a solution for that now. Of course, it’s about professional boxing.”

Brook has been linked with a number of big names as he is reinvigorated following his fight, but it had also been suggested that he could retire.

Eubank had been worried that Brook’s propensity to fill out after weigh-in would give him an advantage if he thought the weight was too low, but that may now have been addressed.

Sauerland, however, suggested there is more than a weight standing in  the way.

“It’s about splits, it’s about money,” Sauerland said of the issues that remain on the table. “[The fight] really depends on – we have reasonable demands for what I believe is market value.

“It’s now down to the sides to find a common agreement. I think it’s a very big fight, it’s a blockbuster. Do they really want it? We’ll see.”
