Katie Taylor on fighting Cris Cyborg: 'I would be willing to step into the ring with her'DAZN

Katie Taylor is gearing up for her upcoming fight with Karen Eizabeth Carabajal, live October 29 on DAZN (except Australia and New Zealand), but she's also got one eye on the future.

The 36-year-old is coming off a mega-fight with Amanda Serrano in April, in which Taylor claimed a split decision victory at Madison Square Garden, and she's looking forward to being in more marquee events. Afrer the Carabajal bout, Taylor told The DAZN Boxing Show that she wants "to continue to make history in the sport and continue to win big fights and be involved in these big fights."

One such big fight Taylor can see herself involved in is with MMA star Cris Cyborg.

"I think she had a fight a few weeks ago, she was getting a bit of boxing experience under her belt I guess," Taylor said.

"She is an MMA legend, she’s a lot bigger and heavier than me as well so that makes for an interesting fight.

"I would be willing to step into the ring with her if that’s the fight people are interested in so that could be possibility."

Cyborg fought in and won her first professional boxng match last month, earning a unanimous decision over Simone Silva. Known mostly for her time in UFC, Cyborg's notoriety would certainly help tick off the boxes of a "big fight" for Taylor to consider.

However, Taylor lamented the lack of a rematch against Serrano, with the Irish star pointing out the massive potential of such a bout.

"You’ve seen how big the first fight was, imagine how big the rematch would be, especially if it was at Croke Park [in Dublin], 80,000 people, the atmosphere would be unmatched," she said.

"I was ready to take the immediate rematch, so hopefully it can happen again soon."
