UPDATE: Taylor vs. Persoon live updates, results

Week 4 of Matchroom Boxing’s Fight Camp begins on Saturday from the backyard of the company’s office in Brentwood, Essex, England. The main undercard event to Dillian Whyte vs. Alexander Povetkin is a bout between titleholder Katie Taylor and challenger Delfine Persoon for the undisputed women’s lightweight championship.

It’s the fourth week of Fight Camp and comes after last Friday’s card headlined by Felix Cash and Jason Welborn. Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn is expecting an electric event between the two women on Saturday night.

Speaking to Off the Ball AM, Hearn said, "It's strange seeing Katie in a grudge match isn't it?

"I did a press conference the other night on Zoom with the pair of them and you could cut the tension with a knife.

"I mean, Katie can be cold, because when you meet someone that is so driven and so single-minded in her life about what she wants but all of a sudden you've got this other fighter coming in calling her a 'paper champ', 'overrated', saying 'she runs.' I could just feel Katie fuming.”

Katie Taylor (15-0, 6 KOs) last fought in November 2019 when he defeated Christina Linardatou for the WBO super lightweight title at the Manchester Arena to secure her 15th consecutive victory. Her previous fight was her victory over Persoon to become undisputed lightweight champion at Madison Square Garden.

Taylor is relishing the match-up, telling Matchroom: “This is a fight I’ve been looking forward to for a long time now and I’m more than ready. I can’t wait.

“This is a fight I’ve always wanted since the first fight, and I can’t wait to step in there and prove all the doubters wrong.”

At 35, Persoon (44-2, 18 KOs) is a year older than her rival, and she also fought back in November last year. She got the chance to bounce back from her defeat to beat Helen Joseph with a home crowd in Ostend, Belgium. The loss to Taylor was her first in almost a decade when she fell to Zelda Tekin in 2010.

Persoon believes she got the wrong decision when she lost to Taylor in the U.S., and goaded her opponent over her style.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Persoon said: "Katie throws one shot, runs away, then grabs.

"I hope she wants a nice fight — two boxers to go for it, and the best boxer wins. Let's show that two women can have a spectacular fight. But I don't think she will."
