Kelly Pavlik is backing Canelo Alvarez to emerge victorious when he defends his world super-middleweight titles against Jermell Charlo later this month.
The Texan will make his first appearance at 168lbs, and he has it all to do as he steps in with one of boxing’s best fighters.
Pavlik still keeps a focused eye on the sport he briefly dominated during his prime years in the mid 2000s.
Following legendary battles against the likes of Jermain Taylor and Edison Miranda, Pavlik earned a reputation for being an entertaining fighter, and now long retired, the Youngstown man is always willing to offer his opinion on the sport’s biggest contests.
“I think Canelo is too much for them [the Charlo brothers],” said Pavlik when speaking to Mill City Boxing.
“I think that one will go the distance. I think Canelo will slow him down with body shots and, for the most part, will win that fight by decision.”
