He backed Paul in the ring but had his doubts in the cage.

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s former coach believes that Sean Strickland is one UFC fighter who would demolish Jake Paul in the cage, but thinks the reverse would happen in the boxing ring.

Paul fights on March 2 live on DAZN.com against Ryan Bourland, as he looks to stay busy and add another victory to his 8-1 (5 KOs) record.

He has often suggested he might move over into MMA, but has yet to go ahead with such a fight, and speaking to Casino Alpha, Javier Mendez think that Strickland would have the edge in the cage.

He said: “Jake Paul would beat Sean Strickland at boxing. Jake has been boxing for over four years now, and Jake Paul's the real deal, he's a real boxer.

“Whereas Sean Strickland is a real MMA champion he's not a boxer, he's an MMA fighter, so I'd favor Jake Paul over Strickland at boxing because that's Jake's craft.

“Inside the cage Strickland would win by a landslide, Strickland would tear Jake apart.

“They are both great athletes but I picked Jake Paul in the boxing ring.”
