A new era of celebrity boxing will get underway on August 27 with the first MF & DAZN: X Series event at London's O2 Arena.
The main event that night will see two YouTube sensations, KSI and Alex Wassabi, go head-to-head in an eagerly anticipated grudge match which can be seen live across the world on DAZN, and DAZN PPV in the United States, Canada, the UK and Ireland.
However, this announcement will have been met with some criticism from some boxing fans who believe these sort of events shouldn't be given any amount of publicity, but when speaking on The DAZN Boxing Show, host Barak Bess was quick to emphasise that there is an audience for celebrity boxing.
"The last KSI-Logan Paul fight, that was Logan-KSI 2, did eight million views on DAZN’s YouTube page, there’s an audience," Barak stated.
"I’m not talking to these hardcore fans that when you were young just like me, I watched Hearns and Hagler, I’m talking to the guys that just like to see entertainers fight as a spectacle.
"This has been going since the Muhammad Ali days and probably before that. Muhammad Ali got in there with a wrestler back in the day, Gorilla Monsoon, he got in the ring a couple of times with different kinds of athletes."
There is also an extra family element to this fight with KSI looking to avenge a loss suffered by his brother Deji when he fought Wassabi earlier this year.
"It just so happens that KSI has fought before and he has a big audience, so has Alex Wassabi," Barak said.
"I don’t know if you remember Ak but Wassabi fought KSI’s little brother Deji and he beat him, it was a split decision, he looked like the better fighter and he won fair and square, and now it’s time for KSI to get some revenge."
