Kubrat Pulev aiming for title fight: 'I want to be a world champion'DAZN
The Bulgarian heavyweight lost to Anthony Joshua back in 2020.

Kubrat Pulev has not given up hopes of becoming a heavyweight world champion after beating Jerry Forrest at the weekend.

In odd circumstances in California on Saturday night, Pulev fought his American opponent after a long delay, ended when the Bulgarian lent Forrest a pair of his back-up gloves.

Pulev controlled the fight and won by unanimous decision, surviving the occasional scare from his powerful opponent and delivering the majority of the jabs and powerful blows throughout.

The last time the 41-year-old took part in a regular sanctioned fight was in December 2020 when Anthony Joshua successfully defended his belts against his challenger.

However after returning to winning ways, Pulev was in no mood to consider curtailing his ambitions, reported BoxingScene.com.

“I’ve had a lot of fights during my career as an amateur and professional that prepared me for Forrest. He was not fighting clean however, using his head throughout the fight,” he stated. “I want a better opponent next time, a top ten fighter. I want to be a world champion.”
