Former IBF world featherweight champion Lee Selby (28-4, 9 KOs) has called time on a 27-year long boxing career.
In a statement released on Twitter, Selby looked back on his career and thanked those who made him into the man he is today.
Selby enjoyed plenty of success during his career, starting off with winning titles in his native Wales to winning the IBF world featherweight title in May 2015 when he was ruled the winner via TD against Evgeny Gradovich after the Russian suffered a cut following an accidental headclash.
Selby went onto make five successful defences of his IBF belt before losing to Josh Warrington at Elland Road in 2018.
The Welshman continued to keep himself in the world title picture and even fought the now unified world lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr in a world title eliminator in 2020.
However, the final fight of his career was a clear sign that it was time for Selby to call it a day. He was stopped in round five by Argentina's Gustavo Daniel Lemos after being knocked down once in the fourth and twice in the fifth.
While it wasn't the ideal way to bow out of boxing, Selby has made himself a part of boxing history by becoming the 12th man from Wales to win a world title.
