Legendary football manager Jose Mourinho was impressed by Anthony Joshua's knockout win over former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

The Portuguese coach was in attendance at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh for what was one of the biggest fights of 2024.

After impressing in his split decision loss to WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in October, there were some who believed Ngannou could cause plenty of problems for Joshua.

Instead, Joshua was clinical and knocked down Ngannou twice before a third right hand in the second round rendered the Cameroonian unable to continue.

Speaking to Boxing News following the conclusion of the heavyweight clash, Mourinho explained why Joshua had a key advantage over the MMA star.

"He [Anthony Joshua] was too strong," Mourinho said.

"He’s a boxer, he had an immediate advantage from a technical point of view.

"He showed immediately he was not coming to spend a lot of time in there."
