Wayne Rooney has admitted to being happy after watching Anthony Joshua knock Francis Ngannou out in two rounds.
The heavyweight pair recently collided in Saudi Arabia, and it was Joshua who emerged victorious with a vicious right hand after previously dropping the former UFC superstar on two occasions.
The win should set Joshua up for another major fight later this year and it’s possible it could come against Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk, with the pair set to fight on May 18 live on DAZN PPV.
Rooney, a former amateur boxer when fighting as a youngster in Liverpool, is a big follower of the sport and he was delighted to see the former two-time world champion get the job done.
"I think it was great,” said Rooney when speaking to the Manchester Evening News.
“When you see these UFC fighters crossover, I think it's great that a boxer puts them in their place. I enjoyed it."
