Manny Pacquiao’s announcement that he has signed with Paradigm Sports could bring his rumoured match-up with Conor McGregor a step closer.
The 32-year-old MMA fighter has been speculated as an opponent for Pacquiao as the Philipino boxer and politician looks for a big-name fighter to get him back into the ring.
McGregor is also a client of Paradigm, which suggests that the pair are set up to work together on making a fight in the future.
Pacquiao said on Twitter: “Excited to have officially partnered with Paradigm Sports.
“Grateful for the support of my family, team, and fans as I continue my professional boxing journey. Big things coming! Stay tuned!”
McGregor retweeted the message on his own account.
The Irishman has previously talked up his interest in the fight after already fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a high-profile boxing event.
“It will be a true honor to have faced two of the greatest boxers of the modern era,” McGregor said in September this year.
McGregor’s last action in the ring came with UFC, when he knocked out Donald Cerrone in just 40 seconds, before announcing his retirement from the discipline. He has claimed to be retired on a number of occasions, and is rumoured to be in early talks for a fight with Dustin Poirier this year.
WBA welterweight champion Pacquiao, 41, will not put his title on the line for any showdown with McGregor, which could earn hundreds of millions of dollars via pay per view.
