Manny Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton 2 would beat most current fights for appeal, according to Pacquiao’s coach Justin Fortune, but Hatton needs to get back in shape first.
The Filipino fighter is reportedly now out of retirement at the age of 45, and while he has taken part in a number of exhibition fights, he is also linked with a potential professional return.
Hatton, who fought and lost to Pacquiao back when they were both close to their peak, has also been back in the ring for an exhibition and is open to another crack.
Both fighters command respect and huge fanbases even into their forties, so running it back would be another massive night.
Fortune believes that Hatton might have to engage in another hardcore regime to get back in shape, but believes the quality would still be high compared to the fights we see now.
Speaking to luckyblock.com, he said: “Hatton will need to lose 200 pounds if he's going to fight Manny in an exhibition. But I'll tell you this, an exhibition between Manny and Ricky would be better than most boxing matches that we get today, they wouldn't be able to hold back.
“In my book that would be better than most of the real fights that are put on now because they are full of fight and they’re legends. It would be good fun and no malice. The exhibitions that Manny, Ricky, Mayweather and say [Juan Manuel] Marquez could put on together would be better than the real fights of today and that's sad to say.”
