Despite years of talking about it, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. have never stepped into the ring together for a rematch to their "Fight of the Century".

The duo are known as two of the best boxers of all time, and they went the distance in their 2015 encounter before Mayweather claimed a unanimous decision victory.

While both fighters have since retired from competitive boxing, they've each been active on the exhibition circuit. With each man still on the lookout for lucrative match-ups, their names continue to be linked as potential opponents for one another.

According to Pacquiao's advisor and business partner, Sean Gibbons, there's only one reason why a bout with Mayweather hasn't come to fruition.

"He is in the discussion every year," Gibbons told Betway. "Everybody wants to see that fight again apart from one person and that is Floyd Mayweather.

"Floyd caught Manny at the right time and beat him. But Manny is light years ahead of him now because Floyd’s skills have diminished incredibly."

As to why Gibbons is so confident in the Filipino fighter's ability to defeat Mayweather despite losing to him in their only contest, Gibbons points to a key factor in his friend's arsenal that he thinks would lead to a victory — whether its in an official match or not.

"Manny’s hand speed is as fast as when he was at his peak, but Manny welcomes an exhibition or a rematch with Floyd and they talked about it in Japan," Gibbons said. "Manny is a fighter and an entertainer, whoever wants some can get some, but this is on Floyd.

"They have been in discussions in Japan for Floyd and Manny for two years."
