Matchroom Boxing has confirmed the signing of unbeaten WBO super-featherweight champion Ewa Brodnicka (19-0, 2 KOs).
The Polish boxer hopes the multi-fight promotional deal with Eddie Hearn will clear the path to facing the winner of Friday’s Matchroom Fight Camp 2 main event between Terri Harper and Natasha Jonas in a big unification bout.
Harper (10-0, 5 KOs) defends the WBC and IBO super-feather straps against Jonas (9-1, 7 KOs) at Mascalls in Brentwood. Brodnicka, meanwhile, outpointed Irma Balijagic Adler to become interim WBO champ in May 2017 before capturing the full crown against Sarah Pucek in Czestochowa a year later.
“I’m delighted to team up with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing," said Brodnicka.
"Women’s boxing is on fire right now and I want to be in all the big fights starting with the unification match up between the winner of Harper and Jonas. I’m excited for the future and can’t wait for my return to the ring."
“I’m delighted to welcome Ewa to the team” said Hearn. “This sets up a huge unification fight between the winner of Terri Harper vs. Natasha Jonas at Fight Camp at a time where women’s boxing continues to go from strength to strength.”
If a unification fight can be engineered in the near future, the ultimate winner could potentially join undisputed lightweight world champion Katie Taylor and undisputed welterweight champ Cecilia Brækhus under the Matchroom umbrella.
