Can Xu is refusing to look ahead at future fights as he gets ready to face Leigh Wood this weekend. The featherweight world title clash, which will be shown exclusively live on DAZN, headlines Fight Camp 2 following the withdrawal of Conor Benn who has tested positive for COVID.
Benn was set to sqaure off with America’s Adrian Granados but the bout is now set to be rescheduled following the blow that was delivered to Benn just days before he was set to fight. Xu and Wood will now top the show and respect was plentiful between the pair at the final press conference.
“Leigh Wood is a great fighter and I’m taking this fight very seriously,” said Xu when being questioned by Eddie Hearn. “Myself and Leigh Wood will present a big show on Saturday night for the fans. I will take this victory back to my family. All I’m thinking about is Leigh Wood.”
Added Wood: “I have to be extremely focused on Saturday night. I truly believe that I’m going to win this fight. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy and there might be swings in the tide, but I’ve got a lot of power and that’s going to be key in getting me over the line.”
