After stopping Leigh Wood in his home city of Nottingham earlier this year, Mauricio Lara became the WBA world featherweight champion and is set to make the first defence of his belt on Saturday.
That will come against Wood who is out for revenge, but after being on the wrong end of thumping left hook from the Mexican, will the Nottingham fighter be eager to go toe-to-toe once more with Lara and trade blows in the centre of the ring?
With this fight likely to catch fire, there are plenty of best to be made and DAZN takes a look at some of those below.
Lara vs. Wood 2 odds
- Mauricio Lara: 4/11
- Leigh Wood: 2/1
(All odds via William Hill as of Wednesday, May 24. Odds may change in the run-up to fight night.)
Just like the first fight, Mauricio Lara is the favourite at 4/11 meaning a £55 bet can win £20 along with the stake. Leigh Wood meanwhile is priced at 2/1 to win the fight, therefore a £10 bet can win £20 plus the stake.
Lara vs. Wood 2 prediction
There is a lot on the line for Leigh Wood on Saturday night, reclaim the WBA world featherweight title and there are a number of huge fights on the horizon. Lose to Mauricio Lara and the future becomes unclear.
While Wood did lose the first fight via stoppage, there were still plenty of positives. The Nottingham man was in control, built a lead on the judges' scorecards and was beginning to make the fight look like a routine defence.
However, one moment of brilliance from Lara proved too much for Wood who looked a shadow of his former self after being knocked down in the seventh which prompted his corner to throw in the towel.
That's what makes Lara such a dangerous force. He may not be the most technically gifted operator, but he has the aggression to cause anyone problems and for a featherweight he has immense power.
It's vital that Lara keeps that aggression under control once more if Wood looks to outbox his opponent with any sign of indiscipline giving the former WBA title holder a chance to land a power shot of his own.
After being knocked down by one out of nowhere shot, I expect Wood to once more use his footwork and movement to frustrate Lara who will no doubt look to land early on.
However, the question will be whether Wood will be willing to meet centre ring with the hard-hitting Mexican, and after the first fight, it's likely that we will see Wood opt to build a lead on the judges' scorecards before any attempts to produce the stoppage.
Therefore, I can see Wood winning on the judges' scorecards to avoid any dangers of being hit with an explosive shot from Lara.
