At least 30,000 fans could gather in Mexico City's Zócalo for a boxing class.

Mexican boxing legends of the past and present will join forces to break a record that has been held by Floyd Mayweather since 2015.

Saúl 'Canelo' Álvarez, Julio César Chávez and 28 other fighters will take part in an attempt to break the world record for the world's biggest boxing class on May 21st at Mexico City's Zócalo.

Floyd Mayweather Jr currently holds the record after 3 thousand fans gather and 791 practised alongside him in Russia seven years ago.

"It sounds very easy 3 thousand people, I would say that 30 thousand is a good number for a boxing nation like Mexico, but I could say that we have to go for 50 thousand, so that record stays for a long time," said 'Terrible' Morales who is helping to stage the event along with the World Boxing Council.

Fighters such as Juan Manuel Márquez, Marco Antonio Barrera, Carlos Zárate, Lupe Pintor, Humberto 'Chiquita' González, Daniel Zaragoza, Pipino Cuevas hope to be some of the 30 professionals who will give the half-hour class.

On the same day, a boxing show in tribute to the long career of Mexican trainer Ignacio Beristain is scheduled to include exhibition fights by Juan Manuel Marquez, Travieso Arce and Humberto 'Chiquita' Gonzalez.
