Mike Tyson’s trainer Rafael Cordeiro believes that his fighter could still challenge today’s heavyweights champions.

Cordeiro is preparing Tyson for his upcoming fight against Roy Jones Jr., scheduled for November.

Tyson is training between six and eight hours a day according to his trainer, and Cordeiro believes that the 54-year-old former heavyweight champion is even better than when he held the belts himself.

TMZ asked Cordeiro if he believed that Tyson would be able to hold his own against current boxers Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua.

Cordeiro answered positively, saying: "I believe Mike can do it. If he puts his mind [to it], he wanna fight for the belt one day, why not? Who says it's impossible to do?

"He's fighting every single day in the gym, and I believe the best is still to come. Why not? If one day he wants to prove, he put his techniques to the test, why not for the belt?"

Fury is expected to defend his WBC belt against Wilder on Dec. 19, with Joshua expected to defend the remaining heavyweight belts against Kubrat Pulev on Dec. 12.

Fury vs. Joshua is anticipated to go ahead in 2021, so any — incredibly unlikely — matchup with Tyson will have to wait for now.
